Hi, I tested version 2026.06.0 with Bookworm and with Trixie on a Raspberry Pi 4 8Gb, but in both cases, when I try to rotate from landscape to portrait from the web interface with the new button, nothing happens after the reboot, and it doesn’t seem to work even if I manually edit the config.txt file under boot\firmware\ via SSH as I did before.

Hi @caimano , Thanks for reporting this and for providing details about your setup (Pi 4 8GB, Bookworm, and Trixie).

I’ve tested the version `2026.06.0` To replicate the issue, I can confirm there is indeed a bug with the new screen rotation button. In my testing, the rotation works for video assets but fails to apply to image and web assets.

I have opened a GitHub issue to track this so the team can look into fixing the rendering pipeline for images and web views: [ Screen rotation only applies to video assets; images and web assets remain unrotated
 ](https://github.com/Screenly/Anthias/issues/2970)
Could you try adding a video asset to your playlist and see if that specific asset rotates correctly for you? This will help us confirm whether your issue matches exactly what I’m seeing on my end.

We’ll keep the GitHub issue updated as we work on a fix!

I don’t have a Pi 4 available, but a theoretical fix is here:

>
> \### Description
>
> The 2026.06.0 screen-rotation dropdown is a no-op on Pi 4. The rotation feature appends the \*\*linuxfb\*\* \`:rotation=N\` plugin option to \`QT\_QPA\_PLATFORM\`, but Pi 4 moved to \*\*eglfs\*\* (for HW video), and eglfs silently ignores that option. Only video rotated (via the per-item \`video-rotate\` hack); webpages and images — i.e. most signage — never did.
>
> \`QT\_QPA\_EGLFS\_ROTATION\` is the right primitive: AnthiasViewer is a QWidget app, so eglfs's \`QOpenGLCompositor\` applies the transform to every top-level window (web, image, video) uniformly.
>
> \- \`\_build\_webview\_env\`: set \`QT\_QPA\_EGLFS\_ROTATION=\<deg\>\` on the eglfs board and leave \`QT\_QPA\_PLATFORM\` bare. linuxfb (Pi 2/3) \`:rotation=N\` and x86 wlr-randr paths unchanged.
> \- Drop the \`video-rotate\` option on \`pi4-64\` — the whole eglfs screen now rotates and the \`QGraphicsVideoItem\` inherits it, so per-item rotation would double-rotate. C++ parse kept as a defensive no-op.
> \- Tests updated to assert the eglfs env and that \`video-rotate\` is no longer emitted.
>
> Pure Python + env change — no C++/image rebuild required.
>
> \*\*Validated on a Pi 4 testbed\*\* through the real \`v2/device\_settings\` API (probe page reporting \`window.innerWidth/Height\` via the server access log):
>
> | \`screen\_rotation\` | Env produced | Webview layout |
> |---|---|---|
> | 90° | \`eglfs\` + \`QT\_QPA\_EGLFS\_ROTATION=90\` | 1080×1920 (portrait) |
> | 0° | \`eglfs\` (no rotation var) | 1920×1080 (landscape) |
>
> \*\*Known follow-ups (out of scope here):\*\*
> \- A rotation \*change\* crashes the viewer mid-transition (stale \`browser\_bus\` D-Bus proxy after the existing bounce terminates AnthiasViewer → \`GDBus NoReply\`), recovered by \`restart: always\`. End state is correct; this is pre-existing bounce machinery, unchanged here.
> \- \`\_is\_wayland\_board()\` only treats \`x86\` as Wayland, but Pi 5 / arm64 also run cage/wayland — their rotation is likely broken the same way (wlr-randr never invoked).

@caimano I tested with the latest build [v2026.6.0](https://github.com/Screenly/Anthias/commit/6b3f638) on a Pi 4 with the fix done by @vpetersson , and I see the splash screen and assets are rotated correctly.

Note: it’s not release yet, so we might need to install with the script and choose the master branch as the base.

Hi @salmanfarisvp , yes! I confirm that portrait video works rotated by 90° degrees. Instead pictures and web sites doesn’t works.

Hi @salmanfarisvp, Unfortunately i can’t use the fix of @vpetersson because i don’t know coder. So, if you can send me the files already patched i can try to put them into the right path on raspberry. Best regards.

I’m trying to follow suggestions by @vpetersson . I replaced src/anthias\_viewer/ **init**.py with his new github modified file, but i cant find where put test\_viewer.py inside raspberry. Can you help me ? Or is this not the procedure?
Regards.

@caimano Don’t do that. Just upgrade to the latest release. There are too many inter-dependencies to try to manually change files.

Perfect, rotation button works fine now, with images, videos and websites.
