Audio out on both HDMI and 3.5mm?

On a Raspberry Pi4b, can we get audio out on both 3.5mm and HDMI simultaneously?

If so, how?

I’ve been trying to get the Pi4b to output audio onto the 3.5mm jack but every time I do that, it turns off the HDMI and then I can never get the HDMI audio to come back short of re-installing the whole system.

What am I missing?

Thank you for the help.

Al

@AlBoudreau, getting audio to work on both the HDMI and 3.5mm jack at the same time isn’t something that Anthias supports at the moment. Feel free to play around with the configs in the meantime.

Is there somewhere I can read up on how to play with the configs? I am not a coder / programmer and my understanding on linux command line is very limited.
What the more pressing issue for me is that I need to get one Pi4b to work with 3.5mm out and no matter what I seem to do, I cannot do that. It just seems to kill all the audio out and I have to re-image to get the audio back.
Is there a source that someone can point me to where how to learn about all the audio settings in debian 12 is explained? Does such a thing exist?

@AlBoudreau, for Pi 4B, have you tried to go to settings and change Audio output?

I’m not having audio-related issues on my Pi 4B at the moment. It’s just that having audio in both HDMI and 3.5mm is not yet supported.

About changing the settings, it depends on the hardware/OS. For RPi OS, you can do some reading on this documentation: https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentation/computers/config_txt.html
