Editing Datatypes

Hey Screenly Forum,
id like to ask if anything is known about editing Datatypes,

The full list of support images file extensions are:

JPG/JPEG
PNG
PNM
GIF
BMP

Videos
Screenly Pro supports all major video formats and automatically encodes them for the best possible playback fidelity on your screen.

The full list of supported file extensions are:

AVI
MKV
MOV
MPG/MPEG
MP4
TS
FLV

because iam interested in using fileformats like *.m3u8 with the oxmplayer or the vlc with raspberry pi 4b.
But within the latest version these fileformats are blocked already on the webinterface.
So it would be perfect for experimental or development process where these compatible fileformats are defined and blocked.

With kind regards
Elmar

Playlist formats ( like .m3u) are not supported by design. The reason is simply because that duplicates the functionality of the playlist feature in Screenly OSE.

In theory, some limited “import” functionality would be possible, but the design of .m3u for instance is incompatible with the way Screenly OSE works since these playlist formats are simply references. These references can either be local or remote files/streams. It would never work with the former (since these are local files that Screenly OSE can’t access). It could in theory work with the latter as an “import”, but that’s not something we have added support for.

For the record, the quoted text block is for the commercial version of Screenly. Screenly OSE does not support all of these formats.
