Operating without a constant network connection

I have a signage player on OSE which isn’t connected 24/7 to a network. It is only connected when it needs it’s playlist updated which is not often. If it losses power it won’t play it’s playlist as it stays on the Screenly White screen. Is there someway for the player to work without an IP address or at least to work without a network connection 24/7.
