For a project that calls for dynamic content presentation, I’m now investigating Screenly’s possibilities, and I would appreciate hearing from the community.
To give you some background, I want to use Screenly to show a variety of web information, movies, and static images on multiple displays throughout our office. For both staff and guests, the objective is to create an interesting space that highlights our company’s culture, ongoing initiatives, and pertinent information.
Even though I’ve successfully uploaded some content and set up the fundamentals, I still need help with a few particular areas:
Material Management: How can material be scheduled and managed most effectively? Is it possible to update content automatically without requiring human intervention?
Performance Optimisation: How can I make sure that when I display high-resolution photos and movies, the performance stays fluid? Does Screenly operate well with certain formats or settings?
Integration of Dynamic Content: Adding real-time data feeds (such as news tickers or social network updates) is something that really interests me. Has anyone done this successfully? If so, any advice or resources that could help me would be greatly appreciated.
Troubleshooting Advice: When increasing the number of screens, are there any typical problems or dangers I should be mindful of?
Any advise or insights you can offer based on your cognos experiences would be greatly appreciated.
@xoyivi2349, thank you for showing interest to our solutions. While this forum is focused on Anthias (our open-source digital signage solution), I can help you answer all of your questions.
Material Management
Yes, it’s possible to schedule the content that you would like to display on your screen.
Anthias is a good fit if you’d like to manage screens separately and are comfortable with doing steps like running commands in the command-line or flashing a micro-SD card.
Alternatively, Screenly is perfect if you’d like to manage your content across multiple screens via a central management layer, which is a web interface. Screenly also offers security, so you don’t need to worry about your content being compromised.
Performance Optimization
We’re currently doing fixes in Anthias so that high-res content are displayed seamlessly, without a black screen in between contents (for instance).
In Screenly, high-res content are displayed fluidly.
Integration of Dynamic Content
You can add web content as well, be it real-time or just the static ones.
For Screenly, we also offer a solution called Edge Apps, where you can write custom apps, deploy them, and have them run natively on the devices. This is perfect for scenarios where Internet connectivity might be an issue, and that you might want to have a fault-tolerant setup.
Troubleshooting Advice
For Screenly, as the contents are centrally managed, you don’t need to worry when adding more screens.
Please let me know if you have any more questions. I’d be happy to help and answer those.
