On raspberry PI 3 B+ with Anthias 2026.07.1, It seems that the videos don't work

Hi @vpetersson, I just tested Trixie 64bit lite and I’ll tell you what works and what doesn’t in version 2026.07.1 with PI 3 B+. The device can handle content like photos and URLs, horizontal and vertical, single or multiple, they display correctly upon startup, but not videos. Videos, even in landscape mode, if added to the active assets, only produce a black screen and slow down the interface dramatically, which seems to freeze. (We’re talking about very small videos, about 15 MB). Tomorrow I’ll also try Bookworm, even in the 32bit versions. Do you have any suggestions or changes to make to get the videos to play? Thanks!!!

Pi 3 turned out to be trickier than expected, but we’re actively working on finding a solution.

Should be resolved in 2026.07.2.

@vpetersson, Hi, i just tested version 07.2 on a PI 3 B+ with Trixie 64bit Lite, and the video works, but only horizontally. Everything else (images and websites) is fine, both landscape and portrait. Only the video remains horizontal even if I rotate it by selecting “portrait inverted 270°” button. I also tried rebooting. We’re getting closer to the finish line

Any ideas?

Regards

I was just dealing ith this issue on v2026.07.0. v2026.07.1 resolves this issue and even better v2027.07.2 for the pi 3b+.

We’ll try to reproduce this and see if there is a quick fix.

Pretty sure the latest release should resolve this, and there is one final fix in the next release to improve screen rotation playback on Pi 3 (32bit) coming too.

@vpetersson .Perfect! i just test new 07.3 release on PI 3 B+ with images, videos, URLs. Finally the rotate button works fine with video too on PI3. I confirm that after reboot if there is only one image asset charched, it will visualize correctly without blank screen. I notice that you fixed the portrait/landscape menu (now portrait 90° rotate clockwise and Portrait inverted (-270°) rotate rotate counterclockwise). I tested it on external PI 3 and PI 4 today. As soon as i will test the latest version on internal Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3+ on NEC tv v404-rpi. if it works as well as I hope, next step is to re-install it on about 90 TV. Thank you!

Hi, what do you mean by Pi 3 (32 bit)? Is there any advantage to using a 32 bit Raspberry Pi OS on a Pi 3 B+?

No, you do not want to use the 32bit version, as it is stuck on QT 5. The default is 64 bit in Raspberry Pi Imager, and we only provide disk images for 64 bit for Pi 3 these days.
