Good news, this was addressed. The tearing and out-of-order frames came from the old way the player delivered and drew video. The video path was rebuilt to draw frames directly on the screen (#2975) and to pace frame delivery to the display (#3006), which is exactly what fixes tearing and frames playing out of sequence. Please update to the latest release. Marking this as solved. If you still see tearing on the latest, tell us the Pi model and video.
